RealEstateAgent.com contacted my on January 16 and asked me to advertise on their site for a three month trial period for the low price of $70 (supposedly to prove how valuable their service would be). I could pick zip codes in the areas I work as a real estate professional and would be given leads in those areas supposedly from vetted clients they captured when people searched for homes. I was told that I could cancel at any time and that if I liked the service it would be renewed every quarter for $35/zip code chosen. During the initial period I did not receive a single lead. I phoned the company on March 9 and talked with Cliff Dows, the original sales person; was transferred to "billing to speak w/Tom" but had to leave a message. THEN on April 16 my credit card was charged for $175. When I finally reached a person today, after trying for over two hours, Amanda was rude, beligerent and told me a cancellation had to be received ten days piror to the end of the quarter via fax or US mail, and that there would be no refund. I was never sent any e-mail or anything else advising me of this policy. Afer getting off the phone with her an faxing the cancellation notice stating they were never to use my credit card again, I checked the BBB for complaints against the company. They have an "F" rating with the Florida Better Business Bureau and have received 16 recent complaints (I filed another).
I have filed a complaint with my credit card company and am hoping to get the money back. I usually do not fall for this high pressure, slick talking type sales pitch... But this one sounded legitimate. I guess they all do. Don't anyone else fall for it. Our money is too hard to come by.
