After checking my receipt last night, I discovered that the 40% discount had been applied to a $2.99 full price item, instead of the $11.99 full price item. I called the store and was told that "I" must tell the cashier which item to apply the to, or the default is to take the discount from the last full price item scanned before the coupon. I was told I can return today for a price adjustment, but this is a RIP OFF POLICY. Michaels automatically applies its coupons to the highest price item. I wonder now how many times this has happened to me because in my haste I did not carefully check my receipt. How many others have been hurt in this harsh economy by this deceptive policy?
