On December 9, I purchased a pair of winter boots for $90.40 including tax. Having been a customers for over a decade, I expected these boots to last me at least 15 years. I still have a pair of Aldo leather boots purchased in 1999, which are in perfect condition. However, that pair was manufactured in Romania versus the 2009 pair, which is made in China (where 60% of Aldo's shoes are now manufactured).in March I noticed the boots were letting in water and my feet were soaked after my walks. When I used them again in November I realized both boots were detaching from the soles hence the water intake so spraying them was not going to do much as I previously thought. I was furious as this is a manufacturing defect. So I finally took the time to return them to the Aldo outlet at 2280 City Park Drive in Ottawa where I was greeted by the district manager, I. Lham. I brought her the receipt and the boots as I was previously told on the phone that I would get a store credit if I brought the receipt. However, the manager absolutely refused to do so. She remained polite but was not forward with complaint procedure. I had to ask her for her name, and telephone number where I could complain. She gave me a non toll-free ie 1 (514) 747-2536, which I decided not to call as I prefer to put my complaint in writing. I found the address myself on the internet. FYI Customer Contact Center, 2300 Emile-Belanger, Montreal, Quebec H4R 3J4. I will write them a complaint letter including pictures of the boots. Needless to say, I will stay away from this brand, which I have blacklisted along with a few others. Boycott is the only thing they understand.
