There has been a mice infestation in my building, which has only been exacerbated by the negligence and laziness of the management at Franklin Park. I called maintenance last week because my apartment is uninhabitable at this point. The smell of dead mice carcasses makes me nauseous... I cannot even stand to be in my apartment. I was informed that the extermination company that franklin park has hired is "no longer responsible" for the removal of dead animals. Therefore, I requested if a maintenance person could at least come to my apartment to help me move my oven so that I could get underneath it to remove the dead animal and clean, but management would not send anyone to help. I was concerned with the possibility of breaking a gas line when moving my oven so I had to call the local fire department to ensure that I could do so without causing more harm to the building. I never received a call back from management or maintenance concerning my issue (s). Once I moved the oven, there was a thick layer of mice droppings among other digesting substances. I have only lived at this apartment since January— considering the conditions under the oven, I cannot imagine that has ever been cleaned or cared for since the unit was initially installed. I called maintenance again, but they could not schedule any extermination until the following week and could not help me in the meantime. Therefore, as I was packing my belongings to leave my apartment because I could no longer live there until the extermination was completed, I noticed mice had now occupied my clothes drawers... There were mice droppings all throughout my clothes. I left for the weekend and have been calling maintenance and management every single day this week just to get an answer on when the extermination is scheduled so that I could return to my apartment. I have spoken with several people every day and I keep being told that the person who deals with these issues is not available. I continue to get conflicting stories as to why this person is not available. I ask to speak with a manager, but I am told that a manager is not available every time I call. The people answering the business office and maintenance phones continue to take my number down, but I never receive a call back. All I have wanted is an answer as to when the extermination is scheduled for and I cannot get a response. I have not been living at my apartment due to these conditions and am receiving no communication from the organization that runs this complex. This is unacceptable, not to mention a health risk for myself and all other renters in this building.
