After two incidents of water damage, the apartment did not follow proper water removal remediation. While I was gone over the summer mold grew all over the wall, ceilings, floor, & and all my belongings. It is still there as of today. Its been approx. 5 months since the apartment was informed and it remains in the same condition.
The apartment management knew I was gone for the summer. Despite the fact they had a duty to inspect the premises, mold was visable on the blinds/window; and my apartment is the closest to the office and maintenance; they did not notice the situation until I informed them.
As of today the aparttment still sits in the same condition and the apartment complex has yet to remove the mold. I have since learned there was a mold problem in the apartment buildings years before and that it was big news in Kentwood that lead to the passage of local ordinances. I was never informed of the history of the apartment and I have not been able to find out if the court orders were ever followed by the apartment. I am still investigating and collecting information but I believe this building is a health hazard and have spoken to other tenants who have mold in their building. This may be bigger than I know of right now. I would not recommend living here until mold is confirmed to be completely removed.
Since I have lived in this apartment I have been chronically ill and my cat throws up several times a week. When we are not there, are symptoms go away.
The apartment, as of today, denies liability and will not pay me for my lost belongings. I lost everything including things that can never be replaced.
