My name is Tasha and my husband and I met with Vanio Dilov on Feburary 5th to view a duplex that he had for lease at 2605 (B) Duke Circle in Rowlett, Tx at around 7:15 pm. We liked the duplex and discussed with Vanio a few things that needed to be repaired, and he agreed to those repairs. I told him that we did not have good credit and he said no problem, I also told him that money was tight, but if he was willing, I could give him the majority of the deposit and would give him the rest on Saturday (2-7-04).
The monthly rent on the duplex was 895.00 and the deposit was 895.00 also. So we told him that I had to go to the ATM to get the money 600.00 and a money order. We proceeded to go and get the money and a money order for 595.00 and I had a 5.00 money order from the previous day, so I used that along with the 595.00 money order and gave it to him (Vanio). We filled out a lease, not an application and signed it. Well the very next day my husband was arrested and was told that he was wanted for probation violation, so he consulted with his attorney and was told that he would have to serve two months. I called Vanio early Saturday morning and explained the situation to him and told him that I could not afford the duplex without my husband's income and could I please get my partial deposit back, he then in turn told me that he had already spent my money and that he could not give it back because we signed a lease and that he is loosing money by taking the house off the market.
I told him I understood that we had signed the lease, but he was not supposed to spend that deposit and considering we had not taken possesion of the dwelling he was still supposed to have that money out away. We did not get a key, a copy of the lease nor did we ever move in. The duplex remained listing in the classifieds even after he told us he took it off the market. I even suggested to him that he keep half the deposit for his trouble, he told me maybe, but he couldn't tell me when he would be able to give me my money back.
Needless to say he stopped accepting my calls and he would only talk to me if I called from a phone number he did not recognize. I understand that he is entitled to keep my deposit if that is stipulated in his contract, but he leased that duplex not even a week after he accepted my deposit and one month later it was back in the classifieds and it was just in this past Sunday's classifieds. I tried calling him a month ago and he told me he had an important call on the line and give him my number so he could call me back. Well as of today I am still waiting to hear from him. So for anyone who is thinking of leasing a property, please make sure it is not from Vanio Dilov, he is a true RIP-OFF artist.
