I met Sgt. Wendorf on Silver Daddies in June - July. While his English was not the best, he wrote some very warm emails, that impressed an old Navy fool like me.in July, he started asking for money to pay the taxes on his KLM air ticket. I sent him $350.00 and he was booked on a flight to Newark to "be with me". He never showed. That day, I received an email from the Home Office in London, stating that he had been arrested for carrying a weapon with him while trying to board the plane. He was being held pending a trial, which eventually found him guilty and fined him the equivalent of $1200.00 USD. I wired it to a Mr. Scott Chapman at The Home Office, 50 Queen Anne's Gate, London. Thereafter there were additional requests for money, which were sent. I finally stopped when his mother emailed me telling me that he had been mugged and battered with a golf club while collecting money I sent him at W.U. I finally came to my senses and realized the stupidity of all of this and told him no more money. Emails from his mother Anita (who writes in the same shattered English and is probably the same person) pleaded with me to help pay his $600 hospital bill. When I commented that Britain has socialized medicine and the Army would be responsible, the requests stopped. Now, he writes and tells me his bonus check has been transfered to a US securities firm and I should write Mr. Frank Woodward and ask for $5,000. Today, I received an email from Pepe asking me for personal information (Driver's license; copy of my passport, etc.). Of course, it is not forthcoming. I really got burned by this character who I also think is African, but I've survived worse than this in my life and will survive Sgt. Fred - if it really is a US army man.
