I received an e-mail for 'a tooth brush for £1.00', stupidly i filled in the details of my debit card only to find out that i had signed up for a renewable subscription. I immediately tried to unsubscribe but was advised this was not possible until 24 hours had expired after the transaction was taken out.
On checking google there are dozens of comments re this scam, and the say when you try to unsubscribe you are told you are 'banned'. I have been in touch with my card co' to try to stop payment but am advise that they cannot do this as the payment has already been sanctioned, the only way to cancel is to write/e-mail the company stating i do not wish to renew the sub' as and when it becomes due, which i have done by e-mail, i have transfered the balance from my debit card to my joint bank account to try and stop further payments being made, but the halifax help-line tell me they cannot prevent a payment being made, and this would result in me being overdrawn and paying interest, even for a £1.00 if that's what is requested.
