Subject: ' high engine oil consumption, golf iv 2003 '
I am writing to you in order to report a problem I found out.
Last year February I bought a new car brand VW GOLF IV 1.4 PS 85 Generation. After 5000klm I found out that the engine has comsumed to much oil. I reported the fact to the authorised service here named ' PAZAROPOULOS ' and they answered me that all new car engines consume more oil at the first 5000klm (I add 1,5 lts). I did the first service at 15.000klm as it is recommended. The engine oil was changed as usual (the service took place 31.01.2004). After 5 months at 20.06.2004 while I was driving I heard a noise. It was the engine oil runing out. I visited a gaz station immidiately in order to check what it was going on. The salesman told me that he had to add engine oil. Finally 2litres of oil were added.
To sum up I think that the engine oil consumption of my car is over than expected to be.
Is it normal to consume 2lts oil / 5000klms? The authorised service told me that's a normal oil consumption according to the constructor's standards. I checked the book that describes the technical standards of the car and there is a paragrapgh saying that the car can consume 1lt/100klms. Well the thing is that this technical info is not mentioned at the flyers that the dealer's use in order to inform the consumers when they are visiting them, and also not mentioned to the VW web sites.
Why they don't meniton it if it is normal and they only mention the fuel consumption the speed, the colours etc.? I was informed about this after the order of the car (14 months later to be specific). I also have asked many people here that owned the same model with mine (Golf IV 1.4) and noone has reported a problem like this which means that there is problem with my car only. I feel being cheated. And the story is becoming a ring. Nobody gives me a clear answer, that's why I demand a car change with a new one, or a full refund.
