I received a call at work, it was an automated message saying it was was concerning a credit card, that there is no problem it is just some offer. Press 9 to speak to a rep. So i pressed 9 to find out who the call was for in my company. A guy answered and started asking me about my credit card number so i said you called a company with 20 people, who do you wanna speak to? He said who ever. Its a random call to offer you a low interest rate of 6%. I said i was not interested and i can call my bank if i change my mind. He said why would you not wanna do this now? Let see if you are approved. I said ok. And i started the conversation sure that i will not give out any info, but the guy was so nice he got all the info out of me. He said he work for lidquist tax and accounting i said you are just calling people offering them certain interest rate where peoples banks offer a different one? Do banks know this? He said ofcourse we are huge in canada and usa and work for all banks, td, scotia, etc. When i gave all my visa info he told me the exact balance i have and said i am approved thanks to my good credit history. (my credit history is not good at all). And then asked if i have other cards and i said no. Because i dont. I am sure i would have given those too if i had. They sound very very convincing. I use paypal and there i need to give the 3 digits from the back of my card so i thought its ok by phone too. Anyways my credit card is now cancelled. I did not lose any money because my card is maxed out. He told me the name of the company 3 times but i could not undestand fully because of a slight accent, and when i asked to spell the company name he said sure and we got disconected. He hung up.
