On May 20 I received two cancelled checks deducting over $100 from my Bank of America checking account but never received any information or product from American Values. I called the American Values number 800.205.7862 and got an impossibly weak connection to a heavily-accented rep in Manilla, Ms. Louie Collins. We struggled almost a half hour because she had to repeat every phrase sometimes three times til I could make out each complete sentence.
Ms. Collins said she couldn't give me her supervisor's name or the names of anyone at American Values. She said she couldn't give me the American Values phone number, but that I could expect a refund within eight days, by May 29th.
On June 7 I called Manilla again and rep Ms. Ross Jones said, through the dense static, they had no record of a rep named Louie Collins. Ms. Jones told me she could give me no names of anyone above her in the Manilla call center or in American Values, but that she'd send a refund form. She gave me an address for American Values: P.O. Box 18464, Las Vegas, Nevada, 89114-8434.
On June 8 I called the phone number on the checks 888.888.4565 and found it was a check processing center, Netchex, that had received numerous calls like mine about American Values. Susan at extension 4086 blocked my account and said if I don't get my refund from American Values, Netchex could refund my money. She did give her supervisor's name and extension, Mona, at ext. 402.
I then called the Manilla number to see if my June 7 complaint had been processed. Rep Alex gave me her employee number 9177 through dense static, confirmed that Ms. Jones had entered my information correctly, and gave me a slightly different P.O. Box number, Box 18434, for American Values.
I'm a careful consumer and have never been sucked into a situation like this. I'll keep working this process diligently, and escalate until I get my money back.
