I bought $27,000 worth of appliances from Famous Tate in 2007. I was basically told I would be crazy not to buy the extended warranties for them, which were an additional $2k for all appliances covered up to 5 years. Well, the warranty company, VAC Service Corporation (name now Bankers Warranty Group - changed probably because of negative reviews and complaints), has never honored my warranty.
1st issue: Whirlpool Duet washing machine tray breaks. They say it's not "mechanical or electrical" and charge me $269 to replace.
2nd issue: My Viking Range breaks. They refuse to move the range because they don't want to be liable for scratching my floors, so I am forced to hire a repair person outside the warranty service and come out of pocket $600. Um, how exactly do you service an appliance if you refuse to move it? Exactly.
3rd issue: My washing machine breaks. Despite promises of 24/7 "service" they tell me they won't even dispatch a repair person for THREE WEEKS. Really? Three weeks without a washing machine? Right. I just purchased a new $1,500 washing machine.
Please save your money on these warranties understanding they are designed to withhold service. That's how they make money. Such a rip off.
