I bought a washing machine from Appliance Direct with a 4 year warranty which the company was Bankers Warranty. I bought the washer for less than the asking price due to to it had scratches on it. After owning the machine for 1 year 1 month, the manufacture warranty had expired and it was now the responsibility of Bankers Warranty to fix it, Afterall that is what a warranty was for right? After calling Appliance Direct and was told by them that because I had purchased the warranty everything was to be covered and all I had to do was call Bankers Warranty to obtain an agreement number so that Appliance Direct could call and get it approved to so they can come to fix it. Bankers Warranty told me that everything would be covered and fixed.
After everything was set up for a service man to come and fix what was wrong, Bankers Warranty then called me and stated that they are refusing to have it fixed due to the fact it was not worth them fixing my machine. First of all, that is not what I agreed to when I bought this machine, I bought a warranty so it could be fixed, not replaced for a $200.00 washing machine and then to be told the remaining balance of my warranty would be null and void. Bankers Warranty argued with me stating that they had the right to refuse me a service call because the cost of my machine was not worth the price they would have to pay so they pretty much stated that they would only give me what I paid for it even though my machine was worth more than they were willing to give me. After arguing with customer service and then almost being denied to talk to a manager, to her actually saying that there are no managers at their FL location then to be transferred to NY to talk to a RUDE manager there and her telling me that I wasn't worth having a service tech coming to my house to fix my washing machine. After arguing over the principle of the matter, she flat out told me "I am going to send out a tech to your home, and if it is going to cost Bankers Warranty more than what your machine cost, we are not going to fix it, because it is not feasible to us. We will just send you the cost you spent on the machine." Today, Appliance Direct came to my home and fixed the problem, it was the lid switch and the part was $15.00 plus a $105.00 service call.
This company is a joke, a complete joke. It should not matter how much you paid, if you bought a warranty it should be honored no matter what the situation is. The next time I have a problem, I now know what to expect and that is Bankers Warranty does not stand behind their name, only what is going to come out of their pocket. Customer Service is something they know nothing about. I would definitely tell people do not buy your warranty from this company, most definitely Buyer Beware!
