Santander Consume
Recurrent Problems

Initially refinanced my car with Citi-Financial in mid 2008 with mid month due dates. Payments on time even thru prolonged unemployment from late 2007 until employed mid 2009. Unaware CF sold my loan to Santander as I was paying CF all along via bill pay at my bank. No word from CF and no statement so tried accessing my CF account online as was told ID/PW was invalid. Contacted CF and told my loan was with Santander and given number. Called Santander who said I hadn't paid them since 2008 and owed over $2,000 for no pay 3-4 months plus interest/late charges! Repeated arguments did not prevail.

Finally paid what they said to get current then noticed due date changed to the second of the month; bad for me. Paid countless late fees plus $11 transaction fee per payment on their website that was severely outdated (showed last payment as 2008 with old monthly payment before ref w/CF). Tried making payment online today and repeatedly told my debit card was denied (with more than sufficient funds to cover payment). Called Santander and tried to use phone payment via system but told the fee was $35! Called Santander again and spoke with Monique who said fee would be $11 but card was declined. Finally, had to give her the checking account number linked to the card! Also, pulled my credit report today and noted Santander shows 3 accounts all with their name! The first should have been CF's acct before transfer to Santander August. The second is my current loan but the third shows a high balance of $4808 with a balance due of $2,507 that was charged off! I have no idea what this is and disputed it but how could Santander do this! Worse yet, how could CF expose me to such a company? When I asked Monique about this today, she said their credit dept was closed until Monday and gave me a long distance rather than toll free number. When I asked why the info on their website still showed 2008 rather than current activity, she said I had to create (register) again. I went to their website was was unable to get anywhere. What gives?
