Recently rented a 17 foot truck for a simple move from Albuquerque, NM to Grants, NM. What a nightmare this turned out to be!!! The truck had to be from U-Hauls original fleet back in 1901!!! We got to the house to start loading up since we only had it for one day. When we got to the back of the truck we noticed a pad lock on the handle!?! We began to search for the key to the pad lock but it was not included with the truck!!! I attempted to call the San Mateo store that i rented the truck from but it was a little past 7 and they were closed. I called for roadside assistance and after 45 min of wsiting on the phone I was told that uhaul would not send a locksmith to open the lock, that it would be our responsibility to pay for our own locksmith!!! Now were over 4 hours into our rental when I finally get ahold of a l ocksmith and 85.00 dollars later we got the truck finally opened. The next day i called to speak to the manager and was rudly told that the key to the pad lock was on the key ring. I told him why would I waste 4 hours of my rental time and 85 bucks if the key was on the ring!!! The manager said it wasnt his fault and he was not going to reimburse me for the locksmith!!! This uhaul location in Albuquerque is the worst for customer service and is a disgrace to the uhaul company!!!
