Went to this website to look up a VIN. After a free snapshot review of VIN, I was led to page for full report you could pay $2.95.
Small print on right side of page reads:
"Evaluate our service for the special price of $2.95 for a single report; you then will have access to all the members information and perks however limited to only one search at this low price. If satisfied, after 3 days the trial becomes a deluxe membership, which allows the customer to perform 4 searches every month for $29.95. Our fees will display as "car report" on your bank statement. Simply call (888) 613 1485 at anytime to cancel."
However, I never received ANY report as the system said the VIN was invalid when the prior page had listed exact info.
Tried calling the number to cancel. No answer. Strange voice mails with no company name, etc.
After 3 days I was charged $29.95 (as stated above) and THEN I finally got a hold of someone who was SO SHADY...
1) didn't tell me their name
2) said I didn't cancel so I was charged add'l $29.95
3) didn't offer to re-imburse me although I was NOT SATISFIED as their webpage was not working and never provided me with my one initial report
4) said supervisor (s) were 'unavailable'
5) didn't send me a confirmation email that I had indeed cancelled
What A SCAM! I believe it's just one guy who takes advantage of people NOT willing to follow up.
