Consumer Report

I own a 2003 ford Taurus. My car would suddenly loosing rpms dropping to about 300rpms, then immediately surging back up to about 1300rpms. I'm pretty savy when it comes to cars (thanks to being raised by a single father of course) but i don't really have the ability to fix it myself. I took it to Acey's friday Oct. 21st and dropped it off. I explained to Acey's that the sudden loss and then surge of power put a strain on the transmission but all in all it only did this when i got off the gas and the transmission had no slipps or slugs in it other wise and was positive it had a vaccum leak of some kind but i do not have the ability to fix it myself. I had a few other things i needed done like a faulty wire in my headlight it was dim and it need a tune up, new hoses and the transmission fluid level checked but do not do anything to the transmission no matter what. Growing up with a bunch of mechanics i new not to drain the fluid it causes more harm than good in these new cars dew to the paper substance they use to make the filter and the new detergent they put in transmission fluid it causes the filter to sort of desolve and then the trash really messes it up. I then repeated its loosing and gaining power suddenly and this will strain the transmission and make you feel as if your transmission slipped. They called that monday and told me it had a intake leak dew to the intake gasket and it really did need the hoses. I thought great. I asked did you touch the transmission they said no everything else was fine and replacing the intake gasket and hoses would fix it they were positive all the fliuds in the car looked great but they did service the radiator and put new fluid in it they're estimate was 749.00 they droped it to 722.00 when i picked it up though. "lol, Thanks guys". I picked my car up thursday Oct. 27th i believe and the car ran great even the service engine light was off for the first time since i bought it forgeting that you can easily reset it so it goes off temporarily. Approximately 2 1/2wks later it came back on and had a mild bounce just bairly at about 100 to 200 rpm drop and surge, a far cry from 1000rpm drop and surge. November 19th i was headed up I55 in Jackson Ms where i'm from I took the exit at meadowbrook and caught the light. When i went to take off from the light the car wouldnt go. The rpms would just rev up when i hit the gas and it would idle forward at about 5 miles an hour but wouldn't go. I then had to call a tow truck to come get my car to take me and it to my house that was only about 1/4 of a mile away costing $125.00. I didnt have time to call them that night i had one hour to be at work and my truck runs fine so i drove it. Sunday they were closed so i didnt get them untiil Monday Nov. 21st and explained toJosh at Aceys that it had a small surge before it did this but other than that it seemed to run fine wondered if maybe it was a throttle sensor. Tim who works at Acey's also and drives the tow truck came and picked it up within an hour and Josh (the other mechanic) called me back within 45 minutes of leaving my house with my car and asked who has worked on the car since i got it back. I said no one i gave 749.00 to fix my car and tune it up less than a month one has touch that car but them in the last 4 months and i've only had it back for 3wks. I asked why? Josh said well it seems you have twice the amount of transmission fluid in your transmission than it calls for and it siezed your transmission up and then Josh said it looks kinda like oil. I said well you can't get oil in the transmission unless you put it in there one of your guys did it because you are the only people that have touched it and you said all my fluids were fine when you gave me my estimate. We got into a bit of an arguement over the phone because i know he did and if he just gave me a tune up its proto call to check fluids when you give a tune up even if your not changing them and if it were over full should have known and they said they were fine when he gave me the estimate not to mention when you over feel your vehicle with transmission or oil you it doesnt take long for it to mess everything up. I then informed him that he had the car, he's the only one who has worked on it 4 months when the oil and oil filter was changed and there is know way possible that seal in that transmission sustained that much presure for more than a few weeks and they had it 3wks ago. They still refuse to do anything about it so i told them not to touch my car anymore someone else is coming to get it they would be hearing from me soon because it was very obvious he was taking advantage of me for being a female and that he was running a scam it was very obvious.
