This magazine company called my cell phone claiming that I had signed up for magazines and that they needed to verify my information such as address and credit card information. I told them that I never signed up for the magazines and they insisted that I did and I needed to pay them because I could only cancel the subscription within a certain amount of days after signing up and that it was past that time before which I later realized is a lie because I never signed up in the first place. First of all I can't afford a magazine supscription, second of all I would have been billed by mail or online not on the phone if I had signed up for them. Also I was told that I had signed up for Ladies home journal and Woman's Day but I'm only 25 years old - why would I want magazines meant for older woman? But they insisted that I did sign up and they were so convincing so I figured maybe I did and I forgot so I gave them all of my information because I felt I had no choice which was the biggest mistake because now I'm stuck making monthly payments and i've talked to them several times trying to cancel the subscription but they keep saying that if I cancelled I would have to pay a rediculously high cancellation fee which I can't afford because it's hundreds of dollars! Outrageous. When I talked to managers they said the same thing and would not refund me. I have looked up this company online and have found many people talking about being scammed as well. I don't know what to do. So far I have paid them about $120 but if I can't somehow be refunded and cancel the subscription the total amount I owe them for the 2 year subscription is $318.40 Please help me. They tricked me into signing up by saying that I had already signed up and it was too late to cancel so they needed to verify my information which is how they got my credit card # and address!
