AMEX waiting on refund - Amex customer service

My credit card account was closed in January. I sent a request in for my credit balance of $1,032.12 in March. The AMEX customer service rep said wait and the check will come in a couple of weeks. They verified my adress, which was already on the account, and said it would be processed. Now we move forward to June, still no refund check from American Express. I call back "customer service" They proceed to tell me that they sent my refund to my old address where I lived 4 years previous. WHY they did this I don't know, they were able to get all of my bills and other letters sent to my correct address. So they "corrected" my adress and said that the check will arrive at my correct adress in 7 to 10 days and the rep quoted me June 16th or 17th. Now it is June 27th... No check still! I call back "customer service" and I am told that they sent me a letter stating that it might take 2 to 3 weeks to cut the check because they need to research and make sure the other one was not cashed, but guess what... They sent the letter to the old address again. AND not only that, they did cut the check and sent it to the old address too! So I ask for my refund again. Tried to explain if I was 6 months behind in my payments to AMEX that I would be charged fines and interest. They were not concerned. They are planning to re-investigate the claim and then they will cut me another check. Am I REALLY suppose to believe this? The customer service rep said I should just trust him. HA! How can I trust them after getting the run around for soooo long?

I am so severly disappointed in this organization! They did absoutely NOTHING to help me with speeding up the process or getting my money any sooner. I asked if the supervisior could make a call and attempt to have the refund rushed becuase it was their fault that the mistakes had happened. They told me that the refund center does not have phones. REALLY? No Phones? It is hard for me to believe that an organization of this size does not have telephones. Lessoned learned... Do not ever carry a credit balance with AMEX to always ensure that they receive their payments on time, becuase they do not make honest attempts to work with the customer on returning that money. I wonder how much interest they earned off my dollars???
