As I was a frequent flyer, I loved Boingo's ease of use and frequent free Wi-Fi promotions. However, after a recent injury which left me unable to perform my previous job, my need for flying, and Boingo's services was no more. Thus, I sent an email to Boingo's customer care department with my wishes to cancel my account. While my Boingo Unlimited subscription was cancelled, little did I know my account was not deactivated, it was simply changed to a As You Go "AYG" plan. 7 months later I am reviewing my credit card statement for the month and I notice nearly $120 in charges for 2 days in that month. Needless to say I was confused as I have a broadband connection and wireless in unavailable in my building. I contacted customer service as to why my CANCELLED account was still being charged and they stated that it was not cancelled, it was CHANGED. After further inquiry another agent stated that he was not sure why my account was not closed. All the while I am emphatically pleading that I want my account closed so I am not charged in the future. My next email was met with a brief response saying "These charges are valid. The connections were valid.
I have refund 3x19.95 as a courtesy the account plan is the AYG" So they only refunded half of the charges, did not tell me why my account was not closed, and still have my account listed as "As You Go" Needless to say I am frustrated at the idea of my account still being chargeable after what are now, 5 requests to close it.
