My 7-year old Maytag dishwasher panel and latch were broken and repaired on June 1; August 30th, that is within the 90-day warranty - I called A E to schedule an appointment; they claimed that the warranty did not apply; after checking, I determined that it applied and cancelled the service call to avoid another $300 expense.
I called Maytag who passed me on to Whirlpool who after talking to A E while I was waiting on the phone, determined that A E is responsible and must honor the warranty. I called A E who flatly rejects any responsibility on the grounds that I cancelled the service call - which is totally besides the point. They suggest I resolve the issue with the manufacturer. It seems that there are two partners in crime - the manufacturer and their officially appointed service organization. Any suggestions on how I can break through this obvious scam? Consumer Protection Agency perhaps?
