Like others, I received an email indicating "approval" of my order and payment for a "resveratol" weight loss product. The email indicated that I will automatically be charged 39.95 monthly going forward. First, I called my bank to confirm this was a legitimate transaction then contacted the Punitron 800 number in the email. When I called, they said they would immediately submit a request to cancel the order and refund me in two days. They did not ask questions so they must be aware of the situation. I asked for a confirmation number and the name of the person to whom I spoke. Of course, they could not explain why I was charged - they tried to infer that someone in my family may have charged it without my knowledge - which I knew had not been the case. I told them they were unauthorized to charge my account and that this was a scam. I asked for the name of the company and location - they said they represent 250 companies and could not give this away although the information is on the website (although it may be false info). The call center hides behind the protest of "we just process the payment, " but it is apparent to me now that they know what is going on and yet they still remain in business with a company that is committing such criminal acts of unauthorized transactions. My hope is the call/payment center as well as the product company is brought up on charges. I am hoping that once the banks lose enough money they will either investigate or lobby for tougher punitive action against such criminal behavior.
