We bought a 2006 Ford from Capitol Ford in Carson City NV, along with a guarantee to refund us the full $990 if we didn't use the extended warranty.in May we decided to check on the status of Signet Financial. Their phone was disconnected, no new number. We went to Capitol Ford who immediately said they had no liability and referred us to the owner's office in the Toyota dealership down the street. There the financial manager said to contact Solano Co. Calif District Attorney where the main office of Signet was located. We called Solano county, they sent us forms and said there was an ongoing investigation. We also called our state AG who had heard of the problem but weren't taking complaints, referred us to the state DMV.
DMV took our complaint but a week later said they couldn't do anything. Same from the Calif AG - they couldn't do anything. I feel the local dealer is a party to this because they encouraged us to buy the guarantee with the sales pitch we would get a full refund if we didn't use it. Big deal!
