This online camera retailer basically uses bait & switch tactics and will sell you extremely over-priced accessories (memory cards).
My father bought a D7000 from this site which advertises a "Free Shipping Promotion." If you go to the "About" page on the website, it will tell you that "handling and insurance charges" are not included in the free shipping promotion. And so, my father was hit with a $95 insurance and handling charge when it was advertised as free shipping. Additionally, my father received a call from their salesperson a few days after he made the order. The salesman somehow convinced him he needed to buy CompactFlash memory cards for a camera that doesn't even use CompactFlash memory cards! And then, we received SD cards instead of CompactFlash cards so we ended up paying $200 for two SD cards which should only cost about $15 each!
When I called in to try to acquire a refund for these as well as for the insurance charges, I was told that they do not accept returns under any circumstances for items that were already opened. Additionally, they told me that they recorded all of their calls and that my father had agreed to the insurance charges. I told the customer service representative that I was going to dispute the charges with our credit card. And he readily told me that I can "dispute all I want" but they will play the recorded conversations for the credit card company. Obviously they are prepared for disputes as I'm sure they get them every day.
Ultimately, it does not seem that this site does not violate any real legal issues. But they are in no way an ethical business. As far as we can tell, the camera that we bought seems to be legitimate. But with all the unknown fees and overpriced memory cards, we hardly got a bargain for it. If you buy from this business, proceed with caution! Be sure to read all the fine print and details, and be aware of what you agree to.
