Following is the on-line chat with Verizon. On their website they tout Certified preowned phones as "same great product, lower price" and... Benefit of a preowned phone is it costs less". The following conversation the rep advises me that there is no price difference. When i refered the rep to the adversiting, they gave me customer service, didn't even try to admit to the deceptive advertising. BEWARE OF VERIZON.

You: My Droid is starting to act funny since it got damp in the rain; not yet dead. I do not qualify for an upgrade and I am in a contract. What price do I pay for a CPO phone?

Tina: You would pay the full retail price of the certified pre owned phone.

You: so $569 for a pre owned Thunderbolt, how much for a new Thunderbolt?

Tina: One moment while I check this for you.

Tina: The full retail price for the Thinderbolt is $569.99.

You: So, what is the benefit of buying a CPO phone at $569.99 if you can buy it new for the same price?

Tina: There really isn't one.

Tina: I would go with the new one for the difference in price.

You: Are you sure there is not a discount for a CPO phone?

Tina: Let me check on that for you one moment please.

Tina: The price for the CPO Thunderbolt is $569.99. Also.

You: Your banner reads "same great phones better price" sounds like we either have a misunderstanding or the advertising is false, perhaps you can ask a manager.

Tina: One moment please.

Tina: It's only discounted if your eligible for a upgrade.

You: another quote from your website. The first benefit is tht it costs you less money for a pre-owned phone. Verizon needs to be careful that it is telling the truth on the website. Either this conversation is incorrect, or the website is lying.

Tina: That is a agreement with Verizon and the manufacturer and they are like brand new, that is why they are at the same price as the new one. They both would be charged at full retail price.
