I took a warrant from the State Of California and tried to cash it at Wal Mart in Mountain View. I had specifically called ahead to ask if they cash checks written by the State.
First, I had to wait 30 minutes for a manager to come over to bring enough money to cash the check. Then I was told they couldn't cash the check. I was given a number to call regarding it. I called, having to navigate the automated phone HELL and having it disconnect three times. I finally get a live person who tells me their machine can't read my check. For Pete's sake - this check was issued by the State of California and I was in California.
Something is wrong with Wal-Mart. They absolutely are engaged in false advertising. I won't be using Wal Mart again. I went to Freddie's Liquors in Campbell, CA (by this time it was after 9:00 PM and they cashed the check with no problem.
