Glass Shred in Bottle of Tazo Iced Tea

Dear Sir or Madam:

Recently I visited the Starbuck’s at 47 North State Street in Lake Oswego, Oregon and purchased a sealed TAZO Green Tea off the shelf, which I opened and drank at the store. As I finished off the bottle I found a large shred of glass from the bottle on my tongue. I brought the matter to the attention of the clerk that sold me the drink and the manager who had me fill out an incident report which she assured me would get some attention from the company. Several days later I received an apologetic email and a phone call from Starbucks and an offer for a $40 Starbucks gift card. They asked me for more details on the incident and assured me that the matter was being investigated. The also asked me if I had health insurance, I said “no” and they said if you need medical attention please see a doctor and led me to believe that they would cover the cost (s) involved and gave me the Fax number to send my medical bill (s). I went to the ER and was examined and offered a chest x-ray, which I declined due to the expense.

I forwarded my Faxed my medical bill for $150 to Starbucks as instructed. Shortly thereafter they informed me that they would not pay the bill and were forwarding the bill and the case to TAZO Tea and informed me that any further contact regarding the matter should be made to TAZO Tea. I contacted the TAZO representative and received a number to FAX my medical bill but no indication that they would cover the expense. TAZO also gave me no indication that they intended to investigate the matter further.
