I checked my credit report in late March to find an account in negative standing from National Credit Solutions, LLC.in the amount of $85. The account was listed in November. NCS had NEVER billed me or informed me of the account. I found out simply for checking my report concerning another matter.
I called NCS to find out what the charge was for only to be told that I had bought books from a book club in 2004 while living in Tennessee.
It seems more than a bit off that an account for a book club had never, to my knowledge, been billed to me and that it had never shown up on my credit report. I have never joined a book club. It was also very unusual for a debt to end up on my credit report only AFTER the statute of limitations for debt in the state of Tennessee had expired.
NCS sent a bill for $85 after I called them. They had no reasonable answer for why they had not billed me since adding the account to my credit report. I wrote back, disputing the validity of the bill, disputing the timing of the bill and why it never made it to my credit report within six years.
I have no intention of paying it and I told them so. If they do not remove it from my report, I will take legal action. This is the second time in less than a year for this kind of scam.
