My sister could do this much better than I, since it was her issue. But it involves me because I have been beside her every step of this nightmare with Publish America. First off, if you are an aspiring writer and you want a book you have labored over published, DO NOT use Publish America. Do your research first. My sister was so excited that she failed to do so. It has caused nothing but heart ache. They promise you so much going in and give you NOTHING in return.
They are not a traditional publisher. No traditional publisher would ask you to buy your own book! It is just amazing what people are allowed to get by with. My sister has contacted everyone short of suing, which is going to be the next step. She HAS contacted the Attorney General in the state that PA resides, also the Commerce Protection Agency, as well as many others. They wrote her a letter stating, and she has this to post, has posted on Facebook, that she has not contacted no one. Told her that as rudely as they could. It was amazing! She did contact these people and they just brush her off like yesterdays trash!
Our own public library will NOT carry her book even just because it is published through a vanity press, which PA is. And they informed my sister that was false! But just for the record, our library will not carry the book. When you go to their site to make a complaint there is NO place for complaints. They have like maybe four people (if they are not made up) who state that they are happy. And maybe they are, my sister WILL NOT buy her own book. So if they do, maybe they have had better luck. But I doubt it.
You know you can trust a site that publishes the bad comments with the good, unless the bad out weighs it. I am no writer, I am not perfect with words, but warning someone not to make the same mistake is not a hard thing to do. Thank you to the complaint for allowing me to do so. Please just do your research before you go with PA. You will regret it if you do not. My sister is by far not the only one with problems that concern them.
All she wants is her book out of their clutches. She wants NO royalties or anything from PA. What they are doing and putting her and others through is WRONG. She has had other offers from much better companies for her book, but PA will NOT release it to her. Her name is Nicole Noffsinger and she is the AUTHOR of Renegade Nights. But even as the writer of this book she loves to no end she has NO rites to it, it seems. Writers beware publish america!
