Trying to collect for a parking ticket given on car I co-signed for, was not driving, and I live in another state

I was a co-signer on a vehicle for someone living in the Denver area. Evidentially,
this person parked in a no-parking zone back in 2007. I have been receiving
letters from this law office trying to collect $160 for this parking violation.

I live in Oregon and never drove this vehicle, nor was I in Denver, driving
the vehicle much-less parking in a no parking zone in Denver.

I started receiving letters in 2008 and most recently in December. I
have made repeated attempts to get this taken care of and also filed
a complaint with the BBB and was just advised the law firm will not respond
to the complaint. The City and County of Denver Parking will not respond
either other than a letter advising I needed to contact the law firm/collection
agency respenting them.

I don't want this to reflect negatively on my credit report; however I do not
feel I should have to pay for a parking ticket on a vehicle I did not drive, and
only co-signed for. More importantly, I live several states away and obviously
was not driving the car when the parking ticket was issued.
