Captial One gave me a $400.00 credit limit for almost three years. Then they sent me a Gold card, so I cancelled the other one, but they still only gave me a $400.00 limit.
My credit was not good because of hospital bills from breast cancer, so I was trying to rebuild credit. They billed me an annual membership fee of $59.00. When I explained that that really didn't give me much credit. Did it, they said there was nothing they could do about it, cause they had received one late payment. I told them then I didn't want the card. But after I settled down I paid the membership fee and went about my business. I was mad but still wanted to build credit.
When I ordered something on line with my new credit card it was rejected. I called Capital One, and a lady told me my card was inactive. I was no longer a member. Well I told her I wanted to reactive my membership, she said I would have to pass a credit check. I told her I had bad credit, thats why I had their stupid expensive card.
I told her I wanted my membership fee of $59.00 back. She said she would sent it back, although they did not have to. I told her I had just paid it, and it my card was cancelled then I'm not a member, therefore they can't keep it. I still have not received it.
The whole setup is a ripoff. I had their card for over six years, and they pulled this. My minimum payment was always about $15.00 per month, and I always paid $100.00. I used it to try to build credit, but now I have no card, except the $69.00 card that is inactive.
