Overcharging on treatment of dog

Our Beagle of 12 years became ill and we took her to a the Parkway Veterinary clinic in lake oswego, Oregon. After consulting with Dr. Treise, we agreed to have our pet made comfortable to be transported to an emergency hospital.

Dr. Treise indicated that it would cost between $200 and $300 dollars. We agreed. However, when we returned to pick up "Babe" our beagle. The total bill was $873.96. We asked to speak with the Doctor but he had left for the day.in order to have them release our pet. We have to pay the full bill of $873.96.

We have tried to collect from the clinic part of the bill. We even asked to have $300 deducted for a settlement of $573.96.. The hospital hasn't even acknowledge our lastest request.

We have also learn from the State of Oregon Veterinarians medical association, that the clinic is in violation of the state code for failing to gain our written approval for treatment of our pet.

Our pet beagle passed away three hours later at the emergency hospital.

We are going to pursue this matter in small claims court and with the state of Oregon veterinarians medical association. We just want to make sure that other consumers are aware of these practices.
