Directv cancel - home service

I moved to an area where there is no cable so I contacted DirectTV for service... They know the area where is known it rains heavily during winter...
There is no reception... Now Directtv tells me I cannot do anything... Cannot cancel!!! I am sure they are familiar with the weather here. Do I have to pay for service I will not receive?
