This company has the worst 'customer service' and the rudest, most arrogant people I have ever met. Many others posting travel comments on the Web think so too.
They use subterfuge to sucker you in, requiring a credit card to secure the reservation in advance. Then, on the verge of departing for the tour, they spring about 20 pages of contract on you which, they claim, gives them the right to charge you up to $750 for even the most minor of scratches. Of course, if you balk, they assure you that nothing like that will ever happen. They won't let you go if you refuse to sign, and they demand forfeiture of the fee if you attempt to cancel.
On our tour, our guide made a sudden stop for no other reason than to get off and see whether he'd caused a collision. I, right behind him, barely stopped in time, but my son bumped into me, causing a small scratch.
Their arbitrary rudeness was infuriating. They welshed on their promises to provide copies of the contract paperwork. They told lie after bald-faced lie. After determining that fact through my own research, I attempted to reason with them, negotiate, even settle with the owner. But, he never even replied. When I engaged the Better Business Bureau, he plied them with ridiculous lies about my actions and attitudes, and engaged in cheap-shot character assassination.
The reason LTA won't engage with you is that they hide behind your credit card company, which is predisposed to favor the vendor.in my case, the few sheets they sent Discover Card as 'proof' didn't match my recollection. I think they tampered with it.
They count on people getting tired and exasperated, and finally just paying up and walking away. We're over 4 months into this, and I've kept the amount in dispute with Discover, whom I've cancelled because of their faithlessness. I intend to keep on escalating this.
Do yourself a favor. Avoid Lake Tahoe Adventures and its affiliate, Nevada Adventure Company, like your life depends on it.
