To Mr Martino. I am not sure this is the correct forum but I really feel the need to tell my story. I was hired by Benchwarmers International on tuesday June 15th. At which time I attended an hour orientation and completed all my new hire paper work.
I was then instructed of my training schedule the first training date of Thursday June 17th. I attended this at my scheduled time of 5 pm. We at that end of this training date were asked, do to location to arrive the next 3 days at 7 am till 11 am.
I did this as asked and instructed. During this time we were told in addition to the costume provided by the company what else we needed to purchase, to complete the costume (as they referred to it). I complied and purchased a red push up bar, white shoes, and black laces and short sports soxs. All of which I acquired for a 51.00 Tab
I was hired and needed the above items as part of my costume for my employment. The new location in Centennial is to open to the public this thursday June 24. We were instructed to attend our final monday training based on the original am or pm schedule
I then at 11:45 recieved a phone a call asking if I could come in by 1: oo pm to under go a corporate inspection in full uniform. And after this return for my final training scheduled for 5pm. I did as requested. I was interviewed briefly by the corporate marketing manager Hopi. Dont know her last name
I felt it went well although I felt my age which is much older than 99% of the new hires. Hopi at this timed asked me how I felt about working with much younger girls. I said no problem. I am well qualified and look great in their costiume.
I also added that I would be a draw for a different demoographic age than some of the younger employees. The costume is very reveilling. But I was quite comfortable wearing it.
I left and returned at my scheduled time. At this time we were told for the first time. That we needed to have a second conversation with Hopi and some of us may be cut. After five days of training. Purchasing my uniform needs and being told I had a job.
I along with several others, were told. We didnt make the cut. Basically we were fired beore ever working a day. One girl was over weight. I and another gorgeous women. She 38 and myself 46. The other women and her daughter were both hired.
Her Daughter wasnt cut she was. I found out that the only other women hired over the age of 35 also didnt make the cut. We are all attractive fit women who looked fantastic in our costumes but with no cause or explanation were fired.
We were told by the GM that he was still short 10 severs and two bartenders. So any cutting they did was dicriminating based on weight appearance and age. Mostly age. We were never told that our employment was subject to a final inspection. I was hired and told I had a job.
I was given a list of rules of conduct and corrective actions. I did not violate these. I never got to work a single day. But I was hired and then fired with out cause. I truely believe this company is breaking some law. I am contacting the EEOC along with this letter to you.
I am dissappointed frustrated and now unemployeed. I stopped looking for a job because I had one. I turned down another job offer because I had one. I feel this company should have to pay me for the items I purchased for my employ.
Plus pay immediately for the training time I spent. And more. Loss of time loss of income. The financial losses and future potential income. They offered me an opportunity and then just took it away.
