I don't know how far back you can go but back on july 2, i received a call from a man with an accent and said his name was eric johnson and he was calling me in regards to a payday loan i had outstanding and it had to be paid immediately or else the police would be coming to my job to arrest me and of course my manager would be contacted. The way he spoke to me scared the cramp out of me that my stomach went through the floor. I told him i could not speak at work and if i could call him when i got home to clear of this matter. He said okay. I then contacted him back and he told me he needed me to confirm the last 4 digits to my ssni and like a dummy i did. Reason is only because he had my email address and family mbrs in addition to amt of payday i had outstanding and the month it was taken out. When he told me i owed over $700. Oo i told him i did not have that kind of money and asked how much i could settle the debt. He said he had to put me on hold and verify with the company. He then came back and said the lease they would take was 502.00 and i agreeded to pay that amount. He then proceded to send me the documents i needed to sign and send back. This was all done through email with the help of my daugher because i did not know how to scan. I told him if i paid this i wanted a document showing it was paid and that's when he sent me a "settlement completion letter". I am so upset because now i received a letter from that payday load stating amount unpaid and turned over to attorney/agency. Back in oct i received a call from my daughter stating that someone was looking for me and when i contacted them back it was same voice of person again. This time i refused to give him any information because i told him that i had already paid on a payday loan. He continued to treated me over and over again and i finally hung up on him and told him he could do whatever he wanted. If he could not supply me with any information on payday loan i had taken out then he needed to stop calling me. I continue to receive calls at work and it's really frustrating. I made the mistake of taking out various payday loans on line and now i regret each and everyone. Some have already garished my wages and have been paid. One of the payday loans that i was able to settle with were the one that told me that there was a scam of people calling in regards to payday loans and not to believe them when they call. Unforunately it was 3 months too late. I threw away $502.00 that i really did not have and that set me back fincially but i was so embarressed and scarred that i did not know what to do. I only wish i had found this website sooner. If there is anything that can be done to have these people pay for what they did, i would gladly do what needed to be done. What also makes me angry is that these payday loans state our information is suppose to be private and i see that it was not. Now i see that the goverment should band all payday loans and cash advances. I have truely learned my lesson and i hope anyone else who has gotten rip off has also learned.
