Please Improve - Target Refund Practice

We were given a Thermo-Fridge and Warmer by a relative for Christmas (purchased at Target in Springboro, Ohio) for $25.00. We were also given the same item from another relative. On December 27 we tried to return one of them to the Jackson, Tn. Target Store. We live in Corinth, Ms. And this is the closest store to us (65 miles away). We were told that your store would only refund $12.50 on this item with no receipt. When someone gives you a gift they don't normally include the receipt which they have disposed of now. We did not return the item because this is simple robbery of your customers. Is there anything else we can do? Please respond to this email as soon as possible. If this is Target's normal practice we will not be shopping there again and will discourage others as well. Thank You
