We had a guy come to our house claiming he was on the debate team at the highschool we live next to and that they were raising money to go to Washington to debate the health care bill. He had a legit looking flyer and stayed for about an hour just talking and talking.
He claimed he was on the baseball team and when we looked him up he was practically nonexistent so i went to go ask him if i could talk to him. He had previously tried to say he likes candlelit dinners and long walks and if i'd go out saturday. When he left he claimed to be going to his grandmothers because thats where he lived, i followed him to ask about his next game so i could go "watch him" and he had trouble verifying when the game was so i knew he was lying. He started walking faster and said he had to go to his grandmas and couldnt talk. A car pulled up with his friends and i asked to talk to them and so they apologized and gave me back half the money because they had to have half in cash.
They asked for half cash, half check. Which i should have known meant it was a scam but he kept the cash and i got the license number. His friend, when i asked, said yeah, um i think he goes to FHS and i was like your friend THINKS you go there. Come on. We called the cops but they didnt really seem to care when they got a statement.
This company seems legit because they have a receipt to give you and it all looks real and dandy, but i knew something was wrong. Dont get ripped off.
