You google "find a social security number". An add says "SSN's 4 free in seconds". Of course you know nothing is free on the internet so you click the link.
A very government looking website comes up with a Capital Building Pic. It says you can get social security numbers for any number of reasons including 1099 filings (my need). You key in the name and city of the person whose social you are looking for...
GOOD NEWS! We found them. All you have to do is pay one of these three fees to get your information. You pay the annual fee and you get the next page of searches... But something is missing... There is no search for SSN's. You email the company explaining that they claimed they had your information. A customer service return email says that this information cannot be given to any unlicensed agency.
You go back through your google search to the page where they said GOOD NEWS! There is NOTHING ANYWHERE ON THE PAGE that indicates a required license.
It is no different than those clowns who claim they inherited $2 million dollars and are willing to pay you $250k to bring the money into the states... All you have to do is send a $10k deposit to show your willingness.
Avoid these scams folks!
