Dear Friend:
In July I paid my Best Buy Credit card off, and I CLOSED the account. Even I shouldn't be able to use the account to make any type of purchase at Best Buy.
And yet to my greatest surprise, I received a statement from Best Buy, about a purchase I had made with the account, which I have closed.
Without verifying, while the account was still CLOSED, Best Buy let someone use my account to purchase a CD, for over 200.
Now there is no way I am going to be paying for this because I had explicitly closed the account. So there is no way that a transaction should be happening on this account.
Now it seems that this is being reported to my credit. I have credit monitoring. And after speaking with a manager at Best Buy, they said that they were going to do something about it... One of these things that take a lot of time.
And now this may negatively affect my credit.
