I responded to a listing published in our local paper's classified section on 08/03/03 that read: "EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES - FILM/TV - NJ Hiring. No exp nec. Work behind scenes. Production Asst. & Set Construction.
I was told by their representative that for $49.80 [includes shipping] I would receive an "employment package" that contained a listing of available positions within our area, and a contact number to call to schedule an interview". I was instructed to call the number provided IMMEDIATELY upon receipt to schedule the interview and was told that once placed, the $49.80 would be refunded.
On 08/22/03 I receive a 1/2 inch "How-to-Booklet" to solicit jobs in the film industry.included was a listing of over 100 companies associated with the film industry along with their address and phone number in just about every state.
I immediately phoned PA Productions - aka ACM Productions and informed them that I didn't receive an "employment package" or a contact, but instead a booklet containing general information about the film industry and how to prepare a resume, cover letter, the interview process, etc. I was told that this is what they refer to as an "employment package" - I requested a refund at this point since this was obviously a SCAM.
I sent back the booklet on 08/25, and have been calling "ACM Productions" since. This guy Jared Carr has been telling me for over two weeks that he's waiting for a list and approval from his boss - Bob Michaelson.
Needless to say as of this writing I'm still out $50 bucks, ACM Productions answering machine is full and their Internet Account is erroring out.
