Toyota complaint review

I purchased my 2008 Prius from Karl Malone Toyota in Draper, Utah and I brought it to Idaho where I live. The vehicle was certified by the dealer to be in fantastic shape, however, no sooner I drove off the lot that the vehicle began to display its first problem. I found out the right front strut was bad and it would require a new one, the dealer covered the cost, although I had to travel for 10 hrs because the dealer in Draper would not allow the dealer in Lewiston to make the repair. The next problem was with the auxilliary connection for the mp3 player and again it was repaired.

The next problem I noticed was with the in-tank bladder which is supposed to reduce vapor emmissions into the air. The tank is a pain to fill, many times it fills up with less fuel than what I thought it would take. Many times I have to mess around with the nozzle because it keeps clicking off. On three occassions the vehicle has gushed fuel out of the tank and landed on me.

The vehicles traction control is an accident waiting to happen. Whenever the traction control engages it cause the vehicle to come to a complete stop in the middle of traffic. A couple of nights ago I was going up my driveway when the traction control switched on, the vehicle came to a stop and then began to roll backwards. I applied the brakes and nothing happened, my foot was to the floor and still no brakes, if it had not been for the rock the car hit, I would have rolled off the edge of the road and gotten either seriously hurt or killed. Needless to say, the rock damaged the vehicles bumpers. When I took the vehicle to Rogers Motors in Lewiston, they said that for me to trade the car in they could only give me $12,000 in trade because that was the most the bank would loan for it. I wonder how the bank managed to finance $22,000 when I first bought the vehicle in April 5th. Also I was told that they would not trade me out of it and keep me at the same car payment unless I came up with a substantial amount of down payment. The Toyota Motors Corp and Rogers Motors refuse to take responsibility for the problems plaguing the vehicle. All I am asking is to trade me out of it without screwing me over in the process. I would rather do that than to have to retain the services of a corporate litigation lawyer. Thankfully I have such a lawyer in the family and so the cost for me to go after Rogers Motors will be minimal. I would much rather settle it out of court, but if they want to play games, I am more than willing to play. My next move in this oddysey is to contact the news media and talk to anyone who is willing to print my story. If Rogers Motors thinks that I am going to take this lying down they are seriously mistaken.

Sincerely,
Samuel J. Zbinden
