To whom it may concern:
Coming from Mekoryuk, Ak 149 miles in Bethel, Ak where inmates are incarcerated not only is it expensive but first you need to send a money order of 100.00 to set up communications all the way to the lower 48. The phone calls don't last long and mail planes can't come and pick up our money orders due to weather. I'm angry that my people have to wait so long when we need communication through the roughest parts of our incarcerated lives. Not only are our Ak native men NYSE, look up Cornell Corp, and Corrections Corp of America, but from villages that are under poverty level communities, we need communications to be cheaper as we can't come up with $2,000.00 to go and see our loved ones in Colorado. Unfairness and injustice seem to be a norm when one is minority from Ak bush.
My son is in Seward back from Corrections Corporation, Eloy, Az and we put 100.00 dollars on his account 12-21-09 and we talk maybe twice a wk. Additionally when he calls us we get "this is a collect call from", WHAT? We had already paid for prepaid calls. There is an evilness to the way prisoner/family are fleeced every time we turn around.
