MCI and the Prison facilities in California, has managed a way of over charging families of incarcerated individuals. Collect calls made from the prisons are charged ridiculous rates for 15 minutes of time, which includes interruptions by the prison facility at least 5 times during the call, taking up at least a total of 3 minutes. Many of us experience disconnetion of our calls after about 5 minutes, causing our loved ones to attempt another call which then restarts the charges. Charges has ranged at about $7.50 for 15 minutes (so called). We have learned that MCI has a contract with the Correctional Institutions that allows the prisons a cut of the monies made.
