On Tuesday, Feb. 2, I started receiving messages from friends wanting to know why I was sending them a link for a male enhancement website. I had no clue what they were talking about, since I hadn't been into my personal email since the previous Sunday.
I logged in to check it out and discovered that the same message had been sent to everyone in my Contacts folder - many of whom are business related.
I had to send out a blanket email telling everyone that my account had either been hacked, or had a virus inserted, and that the message had not come from me. I asked them to delete it without clicking on the link, because I had no idea what the consequences would be.
I then apologized for the whole issue.
