In Sept.'09 I inquired on the internet, about lowering my mortgage interest rate. I received a phone call from Shawn Dimter who represented National Foreclosure Consulting Group. He explained to me how his company "modifies any and all types of mortgages". I told him that I had already did a modification myself with HSBC for six a month period, with 1 month left to go, but I wanted a "permanent" modification. He said "that is what National Foreclosure Consulting Grp does!"
He took all the information that he needed to "set-up" my case file, so he could forward it to his supervisor Chris Foti. They set up a automatic withdraw from my checking account for $750 every other week, 3 times. I told Shawn that I was current on my mortgage, and would not be able to pay his company & the Mortgage at the same time. His advice was to NOT pay the mortgage because "the banks are more willing to modify if you are behind".
My file was sent over to the modification dept. (Kim Scott, Dept. Head) along with all the paperwork that they requested from me. Every two weeks I faxed our most recent pay stubs and every month I faxed the current bank statements.By Nov.'09 I was 2 months behind on my mortgage and the Modifications "was under review". I received notice from HSBC (my mortgage company) that they were starting the process of foreclosure. When I called to get answers from Nat'l Foreclosure Grp. All I got was the run around. I did get a letter from HSBC telling me that my modification was denied in December.
As of Jan.'10 I had to file Bankruptcy to stop the Foreclosure of my house. I have sent a demand letter, for a refund of the $2250 that they "scammed" from me. For the month of January I called and left message, twice a week, every week for Kim Scott, Chris Foti, Joe Foti, Jerry Tucker and Mr. Velahos with no return calls from anyone. There are many different phone numbers associated with this company, some have been disconnected, most go directly to voice mail. Either way, once they get paid up front, you as the customer get little or no service at all.
