Went in to Verizon to upgrade my phone. Purchased a phone that came with a 2nd one free. I currently had a 2nd line tied to the first line. The 2nd phone was for that 2nd line. After that was discussed, I mentioned I wanted a 3rd line added at 9.99 per month and that I was going to give that line my old phone. The clerk told me I had 30 days to cancel that line without any obligation after I verified that with him. The clerk set-up my new phone with my old number, the 2nd phone was given the same number as the 2nd line and my old phone was given the new 3rd line phone number. I was told the 100 rebate would be applied once I sent in the rebate paperwork which I did immediatley.
Seven days later, I called to cancel the 3rd line and was told the 2nd phone had to be returned or there would be a 175.00 dollar early resignation fee. Turns out, the clerk had tied the 2nd phone to the 3rd line without ever informing me or mentioning the way he was going to set this up. That 3rd line had nothing to do with the buy one get one free phone, yet he set it up this way in order to receive a commission. My main gripe is that he did this without explaining the way he was setting this up. I never would have authorized him to do so. I really didn't need to get the 2nd phone in the first place. After calling and speaking with a Verizon manager at the store, she set up the 2nd line with a 2 yr contract and supposedly credited the 175.00 to compensate. But, this clerk was very deceitful and should be fired for conducting business in this manner. Beware!
