Delay in Oil change

I was at carmax, west broad street, richmond at 7.30 am, 07.11.08. On being promptly checked in, I was told that the "techs" would attend at 8 am. It was fine, cause, i had scheduled appt for 8 am.

It took more than 49 min for me to have the keys. The desk clerk was speechless when I asked whether someone would take 45 min for a mere oil change and was it a silent way of saying dont come to carmax for petty jobs.

Please clarify.
