Golden State Humane Society
Supervisors: "jeannie" and "tony" not so humane!

Although the Golden State Humane Society has done countless good works for local pets... It is not entirely 'humane'. Case in point: Many rescue workers AND PET OWNERS are routinely turned away for the most ludicrous reason... Because they used another clinic!!!

For instance, we know of 3 rescue workers who brought sick animals into Golden State that were in severe pain (ie: open sores, pyoderma, infected ovaries, flee allergies)... All they needed were antibiotics, cleansing solutions, or pain-killers. But after a 2 hour wait, the workers were turned away.

AND WHY? Because the rescue workers made the mistake of mentioning that they normally use another vet clinic... But at that moment... Could not afford to go there. Upon learning of "the other clinic"... Golden State sent out its supervisors, who said..."Sorry we don't second-guess other doctors; you'll have to go back to that clinic."

The workers then tried to explain they were NOT looking for "a second opinion"... But only for lower costs... To save the animal's life... But it made no difference. Golden State showed our workers to the door on 3 separate occasions for the exact same reason. The supervisors in question are: 'Jeannie' and 'Tony' - whose faces and manners are extremely cold and morbid.

This meant, the rescue workers had to drive the animals across town to "the other clinic" and wait another 2 hours before receiving treatment.invariably, the animal, already in a lot of pain, would squirm and wet themselves inside the carrier and go into further distress. What triggers this kind of behavior from a 'humane society' is unknown... Especially during this time of joblessness, financial crisis, and abandoned pets. After all, the rescuers were not asking for free services! They were going to pay like everyone else!

Both supervisors knew perfectly well that the animals in question were in real pain. One cat, for instance, suffered of pyoderma. Wherein her entire body was diseased, hairless, and red-raw with open sores. Another's eyes were completely shut with mucous. Neverthless, Golden State turned these abandoned pets away, because... We sometimes use another clinic.

The question now begs... What if the rescure worker or pet owner does not have enough money to "go back to the other clinic"? Naturally, the animal continiues to sudder... And for no good reason, acceptable reason to the right mind.

Needless to say, that's it. All this will now be reported to the California Dept. Of Corporations and City Hall in November. The Agent of Process, WILLIAM D. CASWELL, will also be invited to comment.

Furthermore, Animal Cruelty law prohibits anyone, especially veterinarian medical professionals, from denying treatment to injured animals, a statute which Golden State seems to violate on several levels. First, they contribute to the prolonged suffering of the animal, then violate their own oaths to treat the animal, and finally, contribute to the general neglect of the animal... When it is within their reach to help them.

Bottom Line? DO NOT MENTION THAT YOU HAVE ANOTHER VET CLINIC! If you do, the Golden State "Humane" Society will prolongue your pet's suffering.
