This guy is one for the books! I went to his establishment to interview for a position as a hairdresser. I sat and talked with him for over an hour. At the end of the hour, he thanked me and I thanked him and he asked me if I would be interested in the position. I explained to him that the pay was a bit less than I expected, but promised to put some thought into it and let him know.
He said that would be fine and that if I decided to take the job, just fill out some forms and fax them to him as soon as I could. Well, in the meantime I had found a job with better pay and what I consider a better type of salon. So when he called me (3 times a day for 2 weeks) I ignored the calles and did not return his messages (My mistake in heinsite I should have answered and politely said "No")
Two weeks later, he calls me at 10pm at night, without thinking I pick up my cell phone and answered. It was him on the other line. At first he was very nice. He asked me how I was and if I had found another job. Then all of the sudden, he became very mean and Irate! He said to me "common courtousy would have had you at least calling me back and talking to me".
At this point I really think he thought I would hang up on him, but I senced that and did not do this. After listening to him chew me out like a child for 4 or so minutes I calmly said to him "I am glad I did not take the job there Steve, I would have felt like my father was chewing me out all of the time. Is this how you speak to your employees?"
He continuted to chew me out and say nasty things to me and kept using the phrase "Common courtousy" when I finally had enought and said "You know Steve Common SENSE should have told you that after 2 weeks of not returning your calls, that I did not want the position" He said "You know I am glad you did not take the job too, I really don't think you would have worked out for me"
I said "at least we agree on one thing" he then said "Have a nice life"
And I said "Good Bye" You have to understand that I am normally a VERY passive person, I WOULD have just hung up the phone when he began chewing me out. BUT I happened to be PMS'ing when he called and it just struck me as odd, that he would do this to anyone.
Just BEWARE of working for this guy, he runs a sweat shop, he wanted to pay 6.25 an hour! And you were EXPECTED to pull out at least 2.2 haircuts an hour. NOW this does not sound like much BUT take into consideration this is a skilled profession we are talking about. Schooling alone for this trade runs in the 5k area and thats low end schooing. This guy has a temper and if he would treat someone he wanted to be an employee that way just think of how you would be treated on his payroll.
